Twins banged up; several considered day-to-day

The Minnesota Twins are playing Wednesday’s game with several players banged up and out of the starting lineup.

Phil Mackey of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities gave the low-down on the team’s current injury report. Each player mentioned on this list is considered day-to-day.

Outfielder/DH Jason Kubel was hit by pitch on left wrist, and though X-rays were negative, his wrist had considerable swelling.

Left-hander Brian Fuentes is having back issues and is not likely to pitch in the Detroit series.

DH Jim Thome was originally penciled into the starting lineup but was replaced with catcher Jose Morales. He likely needs just another day, but then again, you never know.

Second baseman Orlando Hudson has inflammation in his ankle. Hudson wants to continue to play but manager Ron Gardenhire is playing it safe.

Oh yea, and first baseman Justin Morneau is still gone and will not return to the club on Friday. Even then, Morneau still appears to be days and possibly weeks away from returning to the club.
