Revere to join Twins Sunday; Fox designated for assignment

Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire on Friday reportedly pushed hard to get prospect outfielder Ben Revere promoted.

A day later, it appears Gardenhire got his wish.

Revere is expected to join the Twins on Sunday, according to Phil Mackey of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities.

The Twins called Revere up from AA-New Britain. In 94 games this season, Revere hit .305.

The young outfielder has played center and left field in the minors. Scouts say his offense is much more developed than his defense.

Revere, 22, at least provides the Twins a great speedy pinch-runner above average pinch-hitter.

Update: Joe Christensen of the Star Tribune confirms the Revere news. According to Christensen, Revere will be in uniform Sunday wearing No. 37, and a corresponding 40-man roster move will be made Sunday morning.

Update: To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Revere, the Twins on Sunday morning designated right-hander Matt Fox for assignment.
