When the Minnesota Vikings signed receiver Javon Walker, many reporters and journalists in the media including ProFootballTalk and ESPN.com NFC North Blog didn’t expect him to contribute much, if even make the team at all.
Since Walker joined the team a few days ago, he has been taking some reps with the first team offense. Chances are the Vikings just want to see what Walker has left in his tank, but this shows he could earn his way into the starting lineup.
Walker, 31, should catch on and learn the offense fast with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell running the offense. If you didn’t already know – Bevell, Walker and quarterback Brett Favre were all together back in Green Bay in a similar west-coast offense.
Don’t be surprised if Walker lines up opposite of receiver Bernard Berrian with receiver Percy Harvin playing the slot come September 9th.
