The Minnesota Vikings don’t have to cut their roster down 80 to 75 until 3 p.m. Tuesday but they started a little early.
According to Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune, the Vikings placed linebacker J Leman on the waived/injured list.
Leman, 25, has missed much of training camp and all three preseason games because of turf toe.
Per the report, Zulgad expects Leman to clear waivers, and at that point the Vikings can either reach an injury settlement with him or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
An injury settlement would likely pay him a fraction of his base salary and allow him to sign with another team, but being placed on the IR ends his season and guarantees his base salary.
