The Minnesota Twins announced Wednesday they have claimed pitcher Randy Flores off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.
In 47 appearances out of the bullpen for the Rockies this season, Flores went 2-0 with a 2.96 ERA in 27.1 innings, allowing 22 hits with 13 walks and 18 strikeouts. He held opponents to a .224 (22-for-98) batting-average.
Flores, 35, has a career record of 11-5 with a 4.60 ERA in 246.1 innings. He has also pitched for the Cardinals and Rangers.
The left-hander cleared waivers last week and was designated for assignment by the Rockies on August 20. His 2010 salary is $650,000.
To make room for Flores on the 40-man roster, the Twins moved pitcher Ron Mahay to the 60-day disabled list. The Twins plan to make a move on their 25-man roster when Flores’ arrives in Texas.
He will wear uniform number 44.
