The Minnesota Vikings’ 2010 season appears to be the last year of quarterback Brett Favre’s career.
“Twenty years and I’m done,” Favre said during a press conference Wednesday. ”This is the last year of my contract.”
Favre said he really believes it now that this will be the last season and that he’s playing this season to “give it one more try,” and play for his teammates.
The 40-year-old quarterback said all along that he wants to retire on top, but Favre said winning the Super Bowl or winning the MVP doesn’t necessarily define winning on top.
Favre received messages from friends, teammates and fans this offseason wanting him to play. He spoke about the visit from the three Vikings’ players, and acknowledged the text messages he’s received from players. Favre even acknowledged the billboards put up near his home.
“Regardless of how [this season] ends,” Favre said. ”It will be on top.”
