Percy Back; Vikings Work Out WR’s Jones, Walker

The Minnesota Vikings worked out veteran receivers Brandon Jones and Javon Walker Friday morning, according to multiple sources.

Both players received physicals from team doctors and had face-to-face discussions with coach Brad Childress in his office.  The discussions likely included potential players roles on the team.

The Vikings did not agree to contracts with either receiver during the visits.

“We’ll just see how it goes going forward,” Childress said.  ”We are checking the other able-bodied guys out there that we feel like are a fit for us here. You have to be ready for a Plan B, usually.”

Jones is expected to visit and work out with other teams this weekend.

The Vikings have depth concerns with receiver Sidney Rice unable to practice with the team and with receiver Percy Harvin recovering and dealing with his migraine issues.  The status for both Rice and Harvin are uncertain and will not play in the second preseason game.

Harvin did return to the team Friday in shorts and a t-shirt, and obviously did not practice.  He was seen smiling and interacting with players during practice.  His return to practicing with the team is uncertain.
