Favre: New Spur Emerged in Ankle; Want to Play in Next Preseason Game

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre said during his press conference on Wednesday that his ankle surgery went well but a new bone spur had emerged since his surgery.

Favre said during his check-up visit with Dr. James Andrews last Thursday that an x-ray revealed a new spur that is not as big as the one he had taken out.  He did say it could have been as a result of scar tissue but said it’s something he just has to deal with.

He also clarified that the initial ankle problem was a chronic issue that needed to be addressed three years, and not just from the New Orleans game in the NFC Championship game.

The 40-year-old quarterback also mentioned that he would “like to” play in the next preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.
