Despite reports from Monday evening and Tuesday morning about Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre retiring, an unnamed family member of Favre told Al Jones of the Biloxi Sun-Herald that Favre has not made his decision yet.
“Brett has not made a commitment to play or a decision to return at this point,” the family source said.
Brett’s brother also talked to the Sun-Herald. ”I have heard no truth to that (retirement),” Scott Favre said. ”I know he can still play and I want him to keep playing.”
Is the world really that surprised about this latest development?
Everyone in the Vikings’ organization is denying they heard anything except for tight end Visanthe Shiancoe who said he “heard it was true” on ESPN radio. Favre himself has yet to respond or address the media.
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com thinks this may be a ploy for extra money, but ultimately he and many others believes he will suit up for the Vikings on September 9th.
