Tolliver Narrows Down Decision to Either Warriors or Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ interest in forward/center Anthony Tolliver is very real.

Tolliver is deciding between the Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors for next season, according to Lyndal Scranton of the Springfield News-Leader.

“I haven’t made a decision yet,” the 6-9, two-year vet said, “but we’re getting there and I hope to have a decision soon.

“Once they have their final (financial) figure and years guaranteed, that’s when I plan on making my decision — unless somebody comes in late.”

One intriguing thing about Tolliver is that he thrived in Don Nelson’s high-tempo offense with the Warriors last season.  Nelson’s high-tempo offense would be comparable to the high-tempo offense the Timberwolves are trying to run.

Tolliver, 25, averaged 11.7 points, 7 rebounds and 1.9 assists last season.

If the Timberwolves signed Tolliver to a deal, team president David Kahn may yet again seek to unload another player.  Tolliver is best suited as a power forward and the Timberwolves currently have forwards Kevin Love and Michael Beasley expected to get minutes there.

It is certainly possible the Timberwolves would like to see Beasley get minutes at the small forward position, opening up minutes at power forward for Tolliver.
