The Minnesota Timberwolves agreed to a four-year $20 million deal with center Darko Milicic, according to Milicic’s agent.
Although the full value of the deal is $20 million, the fourth year of the deal is only partially guaranteed. The guaranteed salary for the fourth year is unknown. (update: $16 million of the $20 is guaranteed, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.)
“Minnesota, from the moment Darko got there at the trade deadline in February, had really shown a commitment to him,” agent Marc Cornstein said. “It’s really the first place he’s been, and he’s been in quite a few places, that made it feel like home. I’m thrilled we were able to get this done this quickly.”
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are looking forward to their visit with power forward/center David Lee on Saturday. The team only has around $5 million in cap space remaining, but ESPN.com sources say the Wolves could use power forward/center Al Jefferson as trade to the Knicks.
If the Knicks are not able to sign free agent small forward LeBron James, the Knicks could very well be interested in a sign-and-trade for Jefferson.
