Puntos Heads to DL

The Minnesota Twins placed third baseman Nick Punto on the 15-day DL, retroactive to April 16.

Punto has a strained right hip flexor, and had been hoping to sit out just a few games and avoid the DL.  The Twins will recall infielder Luke Hughes from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday to fill the roster spot.

Infielder Brendan Harris will continue to start in Punto’s place.
