The Minnesota Vikings and their NFL betting backers took a real hit when they saw the New Orleans Saints crowned in Miami. Favre and the rest of the team outplayed the Saints in the NFC Championship but yet were unable to advance to the Super Bowl.
This year Minnesota enters the off season with and without a starting quarterback, as weird as it sounds. With Brett Favre unable to say if he will come back to play another season we can only hope his desire to get back into the big dance doesn’t die. If Favre is back on the team there is no reason why the Vikings won’t be at the top of the super bowl odds at the beginning of the season.
So far what we do know about the Vikings is that they won’t have Chester Taylor any more as the backup RB signed a four year contract with the Chicago Bears. People perhaps are not thinking the real value of losing this guy, maybe it’s because they believe they have one if not the best back in the league in Adrian Peterson.
But the real story is that Taylor was big for the Vikings especially on third down conversions; this league has become a must have two good RBs league, without question.
Now that we know LaDainian Tomlinson might not be what Minnesota is looking for, especially after he visited the Vikings facilities and left without a good answer, they might draft a running back in the finals rounds.
What Adrian Peterson needs is somebody that gives him a bit of time to catch a second breath, and that’s it. Minnesota doesn’t need another big time expensive running back.
Also consider that in this years draft Minnesota will probably be thinking of getting their defense stronger for next season.
I’m thinking Maurkice Pouncey, the center-guard out of Florida might be a good fit for them, but I also think they could go corner and take Devin McCourty out of Rutgers.
All those ingredients together would make this squad even stronger than last year’s. However, at the end everything will come down to whether Brett comes back or not.
