Minnesota Vikings’ defensive end Ray Edwards, defensive tackle Fred Evans and quarterback Tarvaris Jackson were tendered offers Wednesday.
Edwards received a first-round tender which will pay him $2.521 million next season, and the Vikings will have the first right to match or refuse any contract offers. If the Vikings decide not to match an offer, the Vikings will receive a first-round pick.
Evans received a second-round tender which will pay him $1.759 million. This tender is slightly a surprise, but considering defensive tackle’s Kevin and Pat Williams may be suspended, it’s the price the team has to pay. It will cost a team a second-round pick to take him off the Vikings’ roster.
Tarvaris received just a third-round tender which will pay him $1.176 million. The Vikings will receive a third-round pick if the Vikings decide not to match an offer, making it more likely for another team to attempt to sign Jackson.
Fellow restricted free-agent cornerback Karl Paymah did not receive a tender and is free to hit the market. This does not come as a surprise, considering he spent most of the year inactive or on special-teams coverage.
Update: Fullback Naufahu Tahi got tendered with the right of first refusal, according to the VikingsNow Twitter page for the Pioneer Press (03/03/10)
