The Minnesota Vikings agreed to a two-year deal with cornerback Benny Sapp, according to the Twitter account of his agent.
This is what his agent, Andy Simms, posted on his account: “Client, CB Benny Sapp, has agreed to terms to remain with the Minnesota Vikings.”
Update: Tim Yotter (Viking Update) posted the details of Sapp’s contract.
Vikings cornerback Benny Sapp re-signed with the Vikings on Tuesday, inking a two-year deal with $1.5 million guaranteed, according to what a league source told Scout.com’s Adam Caplan. Sapp will receive $1.9 million of that in the first year of the deal.
Update: Even better details by Judd Zulgad (Star Tribune) via Twitter. “An NFL source said Vikings CB Benny Sapp received a two-year contract worth $4.2 million with $1.5 million guaranteed.”
Minnesota Sports Zone’s Take:
Sapp helps stabilize a Vikings’ secondary in much need of depth help. Cornerback’s Antoine Winfield and Cedric Griffin suffered serious injuries last season, and Griffin may miss the beginning of next season.
