Ed Price (Fan House) via Twitter said a source believes the Minnesota Twins are not “certain” to acquire a closer through a trade.
Here is the original post: “Source on #Twins search for a closer via trade: ‘no front runners or certainty [they will] acquire’ someone.”
Minnesota Sports Zone’s Take:
That fact that Price added hash marks around “they will” makes me believe he spoke with someone within the Twins’ organization. But that’s just a guess.
Twins should consider a trade if they are not comfortable with their in-house candidates to step up and take on the closer’s role.
Bob Elliott (Toronto Sun, Sun Media) recently reported the Twins were interested in Toronto Blue Jay’s relief pitcher Jason Frasor. But it appears (according to Price) he is not a front-runner.
