Jim Souhan (Star Tribune) via Twitter reports the Minnesota Twins agreed to a minor-league deal with pitcher Brad Hennessey.
Souhan mentions that Hennessey is not considered a possible Nathan replacement.
JoeChristensen (Star Tribune) via Twitter confirms the signing and adds that Hennessey does not have a invite to Spring Training.
Minnesota Sports Zone’s Take:
Hennessey, 30, is a former 1st-round pick that never lived up to expectations (4.69 career ERA) in the major leagues. His only good season, coincidentally, was during his 2007 season as the team’s part-time closer.
In 2007, he posted a 3.42 ERA with 19 saves and 13 holds. He did some relief and starts in his other four seasons with the San Francisco Giants.
