The Minnesota Timberwolves announced they have waived center Mark Blount Monday according to the team’s official Twitter page.
Blount never physically joined the team after being acquired from the Miami Heat. Team president David Kahn hoped to use his expiring contract to add talent near the trade deadline but the deadline passed and a deal could not be made.
The release will allow Blount to hopefully find a new home before midnight, when rosters must be released by midnight in order to retain their playoff eligibility for another team.
