Last week, Bob Grotz of The Delaware County reported the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to try to sign Minnesota Vikings’ defensive end Ray Edwards.
Edwards is a restricted free-agent, and was given a first-round tender by the Vikings. If the Eagles sign him to an offer sheet, the Eagles will give up their first-round pick in this year’s draft.
According to NFL Trade Rumors, citing sources, the Eagles and Vikings are working on a deal that would send Edwards to the Eagles in exchange for a 3rd-round pick, defensive tackle Trevor Laws, and a conditional 6th-round pick for 2011 that could bump to a 4th-round pick based on performance.
The site says a deal should be done by Friday.
Laws, 24, is an athletic defensive tackle who was drafted by the Eagles in the 2nd-round of the 2008 draft. Laws has played a limited role in his two seasons with the Eagles.
