The Minnesota Twins may be interested in free-agent second baseman Orlando Hudson according to Internet reports.
Joe Christensen (Star Tribune) reported that many Twins’ insiders sounded hopeful about signing Hudson, but apparently his price would have to plummet. Internet reports say the Washington Nationals offered Hudson a one-year deal worth $3 million, but according to Christensen, the Twins are not likely to offer $3 million.
Buster Olney (ESPN) via Twitter posted: “Twins appear to be serious in their pursuit of Orlando Hudson. He would be a strong fit, in many ways.” Olney did not clarify much about his rumor in his Twitter updates.
These are two solid rumors from two solid reporters. If Christensen is correct with his report in saying the Twins aren’t willing to pay $3 million, the Nationals appear to be the front-runners considering they had already offered a one-year $3 million deal.
So it comes down to whether or not Hudson is willing to take a pay cut to play for a better team. The 32-year old veteran has a handful of productive years remaining in his career, so the defending Divisional Champion Twins should certainly be in the mix.
