Percy Harvin Voted 2009 Pepsi NFL Rookie Of The Year

Minnesota Vikings’ kick-returner/receiver Percy Harvin was voted the 2009 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year.

The award is determined by fan voting on NFL.com.  The two runner-ups were linebacker Brian Cushing of the Houston Texans and linebacker Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers.

One problem:  Harvin was not at the award presentation and it had to be canceled.  Reporters and even runner-up’s Cushing and Mathews were waiting for the presentation.

Sources say he was running late, but nobody is certain on why he could not make it.

Update:  We may have some of the facts wrong.  Mike Florio (ProFootballTalk) reports runner-ups safety Jairus Byrd of the Bills and Matthews definitely didn’t attend the press conference.

According to Florio, tackle Michael Oher of the Baltimore Ravens and Cushing attended the presentation. (02/04/10)
