Adrian Wojnarowski (Yahoo! Sports) reports Minnesota Timberwolves’ president David Kahn attempted to trade center/forward Al Jefferson to the Indiana Pacers for guard/forward Danny Granger, but was immediately rebuffed.
Wojnarowski said league sources told Yahoo! Sports that not only did Pacers decline the offer, they had no interest in such a discussion involving the two players. Had the Pacers been interested, another player would need to be added in order to make the salaries work for a trade.
Kahn immediately denied the rumors in e-mails to reporters, but Wojnarowski stands by his report. He said via Twitter: “Predictable move to run and get David Kahn denial, but Minny GM initiated Al Jefferson-Danny Granger trade idea with Indiana. That’s fact.”
Update: Here is a denial report by Marc Stein (ESPN.com Blog), with Kahn denying trade rumors and saying Jefferson is not available. (01/11/10)
