Winfield Re-Injured His Right Foot

Sean Jensen (Sun-Times) reports Minnesota Vikings’ cornerback Antoine Winfield re-injured his right foot and will not participate in next week’s Pro Bowl game, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Jensen was not specific on Winfield’s injury and also said the time Winfield would be out was uncertain.  If Winfield re-fractured his foot, surgery could be a possibility.

The injury occured on the second to last play of the game, when Winfield tackled New Orleans Saints’ receiver Robert Meacham after a 12-yard gain.

Had the Vikings won Sunday against the Saints, the team would have likely played without starting corner’s Winfield and Griffin, as well as injured middle linebacker E.J. Henderson.
