Mauer Deal Going Well?

Bob Nightengale (USA Today) via Twitter reports “Twins manager Ron Gardenhire says talks with Joe Mauer couldn’t be going better,” and that “It would be massive upset if Mauer contract extension isn’t resolved by spring.”

Nightengale was touring the new Minnesota Twins’ Target Field when he made the post.

Nothing else was posted (as of when we posted this blog), but the update is very encouraging.  Many rumors are flying around the Internet suggesting the Twins will announce a new contract agreement with catcher Joe Mauer during Twins Fest.

Of course, we will update on the talks as soon as anything pops up.
