Kouzmanoff No Longer An Option For The Twins

Susan Slusser (San Francisco Chronicle) said via Twitter the Oakland A’s acquired San Diego Padres’ third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff, the player who has been linked as a trade target option for the Minnesota Twins.

According to Slusser, the A’s sent outfielder Scott Hairston and outfielder prospect Aaron Cunningham for Kouzmanoff and an unnamed prospect.

The Twins reportedly attempted to trade pitcher Glen Perkins for Kouzmanoff during the Winter Meetings this offseason.  The Padres rejected the offer and supposedly wanted another player along with Perkins.

Free-agent and trade options are limiting and signs are pointing to the Twins sitting with what they have and possibly re-signing third baseman Joe Crede to a one-year deal similar to what he received last year.
