Darren Wolfson (Maple Street Press) via Twitter posted some notes from an interview with Minnesota Twins’ manager Ron Gardenhire.
- On the catcher Joe Mauer deal: “I really believe that this is going to get done,” said Gardenhire via Wolfson’s Twitter.
- Regarding the No. 2 hitter in the batting lineup, Garenhire said shortstop J.J. Hardy is not expected to be inserted there. Did not mention the candidates for the the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
“You like the No. 2 hitter to be able to handle the bat, Gardenhire said. “J.J. is more of a pull hitter. Not saying he cant do it. You never know who you might sign.”
- Recently signed pitcher Clay Condrey is apparently a lock to make the roster.
- Last but not least, we can expect another free-agent signing. Wolfson assumes it would be an infielder and/or a fourth outfielder. Looks like shortstop Orlando Cabrera was mentioned in the interview.
