Vikings In Jeopardy Of Losing First Round Bye

The loss Monday night to the Chicago Bears shuts the door on the possibility of the #1 seed for the Minnesota Vikings, as well as open the door for the Philadelphia Eagles to gain the #2 seed.

The Eagles have the tiebreaker over the Vikings, so regardless of whether the Vikings win or lose next week against the New York Giants, the Eagles will take the #2 seed from the Vikings  if they win next week against the Dallas Cowboys.  In other words, the Vikings want to win next week as well as be Cowboys fans for that week.

By losing the #2 seed spot in the NFC, the Vikings will also lose their first-round bye in the playoffs.  Next week’s game against the Giants will be very important to the Vikings becaust not only do they have a first-round bye on the line, they would gain home-field advantage at least until/if they see the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship.

Vikings keep #2 seed if:

Vikings win vs. Giants & Eagles lose vs. Cowboys

Eagles gain #2 seed if

Vikings win vs. Gaints & Eagles win vs. Cowboys

or

Vikings lose vs. Gaints & Eagles win vs. Cowboys

or

Vikings lose vs. Giants & Eagles lose vs. Cowboys & Cardinals lose vs. Packers

Cardinals gain #2 seed if:

Vikings lose vs. Giants & Eagles lose vs. Cowboys &  Cardinals win vs. Packers

Cowboys gain #2 seed if:

Vikings lose vs. Giants & Eagles lose vs. Cowboys & Cardinals lose vs. Packers
