The Minnesota Vikings will be playing in this year’s playoffs, clinching a playoff spot after defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 30-10 on Sunday.
The Vikings could have won the NFC North had the Chicago Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers, but with the Vikings owning the tiebreaker over the Packers, the NFC North title is the Vikings’ to lose. A Packers’ loss or Vikings’ win for the remaining part of the season would guarantee the Vikings the top spot in the division.
Update: Because the Packers won against the Bears, the Bears are officially knocked out of the playoff race. The Bears, at 5-8, are now mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
