Timberwolves Trade Hart To Pheonix After Failed Trade Attempt With New Orleans

The Minnesota Timberwolves traded point guard Jason Hart to the Pheonix Suns in exchange for small forward Alando Tucker, a 2010 2nd rounder, and cash considerations.

The cash considerations will pay for the roughly $250,000 difference between the two player’s salaries.  Tucker has a salary of $1,071,720 and Hart has a salary of $825,497.

According to Internet sources, the Timberwolves nearly dealt Hart to the New Orleans Hornets for guard/forward Devin Brown, but there were some speculation that New Orleans pulled out because they have another deal in place involving Brown.  The Timberwolves instead turned to the Suns and pulled the trigger on the deal for Tucker.

Because Hart has a non-guaranteed contract, it is expected that the Suns will waive him in order to gain some salary cap space.

Tucker averaged 3.9 points and 6.5 minutes a game for the Suns this season.  His role is expected to expand with the Timberwolves because of their thin depth at the small forward position.
