Griffin Fined $10,000; Williams & Shiancoe Fined $5,000

Judd Zulgad (Star Tribune) reports the NFL fined Minnesota Vikings’ cornerback Cedric Griffin $10,000 for striking Cincinnati Bengals’ receiver Chad Ochocinco in the head during the Vikings’ 30-10 victory on Sunday at the Metrodome.

The call on the field was an unnecessary roughness penalty, which ultimately set up a score for the Bengals.

Zulgad also reports tight end Visanthe Shiancoe and defensive tackle Kevin Williams both got fined $5,000.  Shiancoe was fined for head-butting cornerback Johnathan Joseph, and Williams was fined for his unnecessary roughness when he hit quarterback Carson Palmer out of bounds at the end of a play.

No word on whether or not the players will appeal the fines.
