Fox Leaves Door Open On Delhomme Against The Vikings

Ron Green Jr. (Charlotte Observer) reports Carolina Panthers’ coach John Fox has left the door open on a possible return of injured quarterback Jake Delhomme for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Quarterback Matt Moore has filled in for Delhomme in the past couple weeks, but the Panthers will continue to evaluate Delhomme daily.  It’s possible Delhomme could return to the lineup if his injured throwing hand allows it this week.

The Vikings’ defensive unit should not be worried about which quarterback the Panthers decide to start under center.  Moore has been alright in his two NFL starts in place of Delhomme, who has been inconsistent and turnover-prone even before that.

A win this Sunday will clinch the NFC North for the Vikings.  At 5-8, the Panthers are not thinking about heading to the playoffs.

This is a much different report compared to the one by Jason La Canfora (NFL.com), who said Delhomme looks doubtful to return this week, according to a league source.
