Minnesota Vikings’ middle linebacker Jasper Brinkley had a solid game in his first NFL start, finishing with three tackles against the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday.
Brinkley was a split second late on a few run plays that could have resulted in negative run plays for the Bengals’ offense. Brinkley played mainly in run-defense and was off the field in nickel and passing situations.
The Vikings’ defense definitely got a boost with the return of cornerback Antoine Winfield, who racked up 9 tackles and was all over the field. Winfield missed an easy interception opportunity that bounced off his hands.
The return of Winfield showed his importance to the team, and his return helps ease the loss of middle linebacker E.J. Henderson, who is out for the season with a broken left femur.
