Twins Cut Buscher From 40-Man Roster

Joe Christensen (Star Tribune) reports the Minnesota Twins cut third baseman Brian Buscher from their 40-man roster, outrighting him to Class AAA Rochester.

There is a chance Buscher could opt to remain in the organization, but it doesn’t seem likely. Buscher can become a minor-league free agent 16 days after the World Series.

Buscher, 28, got limited playing time while with the Twins this season.  Although third baseman Joe Crede may not return next season for the Twins, it appears the team will look to their farm system or free-agency for the starting spot at third.

The Twins could look into plantooning at third base with infielder’s Nick Punto, Matt Tolbert and Brendan Harris.
