‘Realistic’ Free Agent Options For Third Base

Aaron Gleeman (AG.com) posted a blog listing five free-agents he believes are “realistic” options for the Minnesota Twins’ starting third base position.

Gleeman took into account the overall market and despite the Twins’ history of bargain-shopping for “washed-up” veterans, he considers these five free-agents as players the Twins should pursue.

Here are the players he listed:

Adrian Beltre – Seattle Mariners
Mark DeRosa – St. Louis Cardinals
Troy Glaus – St. Louis Cardinals
Melvin Mora – Baltimore Orioles
Joe Crede – Minnesota Twins

You’ll have to visit his blog to see what he had to write about each of the candidates.  The link can be found on the first sentence of this blog.

For the most part, we agree with Gleeman’s list.  Although he calls his list a “realistic” free-agent list, it’s not exactly as realistic as it sounds.  The most realistic outcome is probably some kind of platooning of infielder’s Brendan Harris, Danny Valencia and Matt Tolbert at third base, with Nick Punto at second base.
