Perkins Drops Grievance

Joe Christensen (Star Tribune) reports Minnesota Twins and pitcher Glen Perkins reached a settlement this week, avoiding a arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday in New York, and not qualifying him for arbitration.

The settlement will prevent Perkins from continuing on with his grievance hearing, with his argument that he should have been kept on the big league roster and sent on a minor league rehabilitation assignment, instead of being sent to AAA Rochester for the last part of the year.

The Twins stood firm on their stance, saying they moved in the best interests of Perkins as well as the team.  With a 5.89 ERA and trust issues over Perkins health, the Twins organization had plenty of reasons to demote the pitcher.
