Joe Christensen (Star Tribune) reported some Twins’ news at the GM Meetings Monday.
Here are the updates:
- The Baltimore Orioles claimed pitcher Armando Gabino on waivers.
- The team selected the contract of pitcher Juan Morillo, putting him back on their 40-man roster. (Looks like he won’t be headed to Japan, afterall)
- First baseman Justin Huber cleared waivers and was outrighted to AAA Rochester. Huber could technically opt for free-agency.
The Morillo move is the most interesting news bit to us. Morillo is a hard-throwing righthander that was claimed off waivers from the Rockies, and posted a 22.50 ERA in three appearances for the Twins. He did improve at Rochester, going 6-6 with a 3.90 ERA in 46 games for Rochester, notching 87 strikeouts in 67 innings.
The scary stat about Morillo at Rochester: 51 walks in 67 innings.
