Wolves Release Daniels; Blount Up Next?

The Minnesota Timberwolves waived guard Antonio Daniels, a month after he approached Timberwolves’ president David Kahn about playing elsewhere.

Kahn had granted Daniels’ agent the right to seek a trade, but apparently no trade could be found.  Daniels and the team agreed to a modest buyout that will allow him to sign with any team.

Daniels wanted to play on a team that would allow him to play enough minutes to earn himself one more big contract.  Kahn was honest and upfront with him and told him he would be a reserve player with no guarantees to minutes.

The team will likely do the same for center Mark Blount.  The team gave his agent the right to seek a trade as well, but that doesn’t appear likely.
