The Pioneer Press is reporting Minnesota Vikings’ owner Zygi Wilf wants quarterback Brett Favre back for the 2010 season.
“I would love him to; why not?” Wilf said. “That’s what we signed him up for.”
Favre essentially has a one-year contract that allows him to return for a second year if both he and the team mutually agree to continue their relationship another season. Favre is scheduled to earn $12 million this season and has a non-guaranteed second year for $13 million.
The Vikings will likely target a quarterback in the NFL draft next year, regardless of if the 40-year-old Favre returns or not. It is difficult to imagine how quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels would get a legitimate shot at being a long-term starter at this point.
