The Minnesota Timberwolves waived center Jared Reiner, one day after acquiring power forward Nathan Jawai from the Dallas Mavericks. After signing with the team as a free agent at the end of September, Reiner was considered a long-shot at making the team.  He averaged 3.3 points and 3.7 rebounds in three preseason games.

Twins Announce New AA Manager

The Minnesota Twins announced they have 35-year-old Jeff Smith as their manager for the AA New Britain Rock Cats. Smith will be the first former New Britain player in franchise history to come back to lead the team.  He replaces Tom Nieto, who was promoted to be the manager for AAA Rochester.
