Loadholt Listed As Questionable

Minnesota Vikings’ tackle Phil Loadholt is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the St.Louis Rams because of an ankle injury.

Loadholt did not participate in practice today, but instead stayed inside the Vikings’ facility to receive treatment.  Loadholt first injured is ankle in the preseason, but was able to play in the first four regular season games.

With the 0-4 St. Louis Rams up next for the Vikings, the team and coaching staff do not necessarily need to rush their 2009 second-round pick back into action.  Treating his injury and getting him ready for the remainder of the season is the safe and logical approach.

If Loadholt cannot go, the team can choose from reserve linemen Ryan Cook and Artis Hicks.  Cook was the opening day starter last season but was replaced by Hicks midway through that season.

We expect Hicks to get the start, although Cook may get some looks throughout the game as well.

Other Injuries:

Players listed on the  injury report as probable are quarterback Brett Favre (foot, ankle, knee); defensive end Ray Edwards (hamstring); and cornerback Cedric Griffin (hand).  The three are expected to play Sunday.

Linebacker Erin Henderson (calf) has yet to play at all this season and practiced in only a limited basis this week.  Henderson is questionable but likely won’t play.

Punt returner Darius Reynaud will be out for Sunday’s game, as he is dealing with a personal issue.
