The Minnesota Vikings’ starters will not play in the last preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to head coach Brad Childress. Teams typically rest their starters for the last preseason game, and it would be surprising if they do play.
Based on the comments quarterback Brett Favre made after the Houston Texans’ game, the 39-year-old future hall-of-famer wouldn’t mind getting a little action in that final preseason game. With only about four practices before the game against the Cowboys, it’s not likely Childress would allow to exhaust his starters just before the season.
The team will have to cut their team roster from 75 to 53 the day after their game against the Cowboys. The battle to watch will be between running back’s Ian Johnson and Albert Young, although it is possible the Vikings will carry four backs.
