Player agent Drew Rosenhaus announced on his twitter Minnesota Vikings’ tight end Visanthe Shiancoe signed on as a client of Rosenhaus. Shiancoe, 29, is on the third year of his five-year contract, and is apparently looking to cash in after a career year last year and a potentially big season with quarterback Brett Favre this season.
Shiancoe will likely look for an extension (and big raise) as soon as after this season, because he is likely to have only one big contract left in his football career (he will be 30). If Favre utilizes his tight end well and gives him another career year like he had last year, Shiancoe would be in great position to land a new contract.
Favre typically passed a lot to his tight end in his long career, and Shiancoe definitely gained the reputation for having good hands in recent years. When we realized the Vikings were signing Favre, we envisioned Shiancoe having a major breakout year.
After this year, Schiancoe will have one year remaining in his contract.
