Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback Brett Favre says he “may not” be able to play in all 16 regular-season games. When asked about his consecutive playing steak, he said he “absolutely” would sit out this season if he’s not healthy enough to suit up as Minnesota’s quarterback.
Not surprising words coming from a 39-year-old, who is back from a torn bicep surgery and has a partially torn rotator cuff. There is no doubt that the workhorse will be running back Adrian Peterson in this Vikings’ offense, so hopefully that will keep Favre on the field for all of the season.
Favre’s concern over his health makes having quarterback’s Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels comforting. The back-up job behind Favre is expected to be named this Sunday, although that position can alternate between Jackson and Rosenfels, depending on how they do in practice.
Fantasy Note: Favre won’t put up the fantasy numbers he had while he was in Green Bay, although he could be a solid bench quarterback, especially in deeper leagues. The emergence of tight end Visanthe Shiancoe will absolutely raise Favre’s value, as Favre has a history of targeting his tight end.
