The Minnesota Timberwolves signed Dallas Mavericks’ restricted free-agent center Ryan Hollins to an offer sheet, giving the Mavericks seven days to match the offer. The offer is reportedly a three-year contract for $7 million, according to league sources.
According to Art Garcia (NBA.com), the Mavericks will not pass on the offer. Mavericks’ GM Donnie Nelson apparently sent a text message to NBA.com confirming it.
Hollins, 24, averaged 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, primarily as a reserve center.
Hollins was selected out of UCLA in the 2006 NBA draft by the Charlotte Bobcats. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks after two-plus seasons.
Timberwolves President David Kahn calls Hollins an athletic center who should fit in well on the frontcourt with Kevin Love and Al Jefferson.
