The Minnesota Twins sent AAA Rochester pitcher Yohan Pino to Cleveland as the player-to-be-named-later in the trade for Carl Pavano. This move completes the trade for when the Indians sent pitcher Carl Pavano to the Twins on August 7th.
Pino, 25, opened the 2009 season with AA New Britain and went 5-1 with a 3.19 ERA in 32 games including four starts. He was moved up to AAA Rochester on July 20 and went 2-2 with a 2.82 ERA in eight starts.
The Twins sent the Indians a pretty good pitcher with big-league potential, which is surprising because the Indians wanted to unload Pavano to create a roster spot for newly acquired pitcher Justin Masterson.
