As we stated last week, Los Angelos Lakers’ Kurt Rambis has been a serious candidate for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ head coaching position. Now all signs are pointing towards Rambis being selected for that position. It is a matter of time before the Timberwolves make an announcement.
Rambis is by far the most experienced candidate of the people mentioned to be interviewed with Timberwolves’ President Kavid Kahn. Assuming Rambis would accept the offer, the Timberwolves would love to have his leadership and knowledge with their young rebuilding team.
Mychal Thompson, the former Gophers star and Lakers teammate of Rambis’ who now is a radio broadcaster for the Lakers, believes Rambis would “take the job if it was offered to him”.
There is a chance that Kahn would not be against hiring Mark Jackson as an assistant to Rambis. Although Jackson is also considered serious candidate, his presence as an assistant will make him a better coach and allow him to spend extra time with the Timberwolves’ young point guards.
