Minnesota Twins’ pitcher Francisco Liriano was placed on the 15-day DL following last night’s game against the Texas Rangers for arm fatigue. To take Liriano’s roster spot, the Twins recalled pitcher Philip Humber from AAA Rochester.
“We’re not going to take any chances with him,” Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. “He’s pretty frustrated out there. He feels like there’s not much left in the tank.”
The starting rotation as well as the middle relief is falling apart for the Twins. The offense has been the best it has ever been in a very long time, but the Twins are giving up far too many runs for that to matter.
We do not know which pitcher will take Liriano’s spot in the rotation. Regardless of who they call up and insert into the rotation, the Twin’s hopes this season appears to be doomed.
