Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback Tarvaris Jackson suffered a slight injury yesterday during camp. Via the Associated Press:
Jackson suffered what the Associated Press reported was a sprained MCL in his left knee when 6-4, 303-pound defensive tackle Letroy Guion rolled onto Jackson as he was sliding up in the pocket during the 11-on-11 team drill. Jackson’s left knee appeared to buckle as he absorbed Guion’s weight in an unfortunate collision when center John Sullivan’s block knocked Guion back into Jackson.
The fourth-year quarterback writhed in pain holding his left knee on the field for a couple of minutes as Childress and two members of the training staff hovered over him. He gathered himself and limped off without having to lean on either member of the training staff.
This throws a slight twist into the Vikings QB battle. Coach Brad Childress said that “Jackson will be fine”, that he is listed as day to day and quarterback John David Booty will get his reps. It is crucial for Jackson to get healthy so that he can compete for the starting job. We’ll keep you updated on his condition.
