The Minnesota Twins placed third baseman Joe Crede on the 15-day DL, retroactive to August 22, with a lower back strain. Catcher Jose Morales will be called up from AAA Rochester to take Crede’s spot on the major league roster.
Recent reports are saying Crede’s back is showing signs of getting better, but the Twins would like to give him a few more days to rest his back. The Twins have options at third base with infielder’s Nick Punto and Brendan Harris, and if necessary (emergency scenario), outfielder Michael Cuddyer can come in and play in the infield.
