Winfield Extension Is Four Years, Not Five

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield, Thursday, agreed to a four-year contract extension.  Many media outlets reported a five-year contract extension, but we have word that it is only a four-year extension on top of the final year remaining on his last contract, which now totals five years together.

So including the final year of his previous contract (worth $6 million), Winfield’s contract will total $36 million with $16 million in guarantees.

Not to brag, but Minnesota Sports Zone speculated Wednesday that he would sign a three or four-year extension with an average annual salary of $7 to $8 million.  This new four-year extension has an average annual salary of $7.5 million.
